Marazion Angling Club held there first of three matches at Amalwhidden Farm today on Heron Lake. There was 12 fisherman and everyone caught (just!!) 1st was Mike O’Gorman (pictured) with 27lb 12oz and won £40, close 2nd was Jeff Chatfield with 26lb 10oz and won £30, 3rd was Boz Philips with 17lb 2oz and won £15 and 4th was Gary Smith with 16lb 8oz and won £14. Well done to all and thanks for using our fishery as one of your winter venues. We look forward to seeing you all in December.

Can’t believe my luck, I fished in my second match on Sunday and won. I had 30lb of mirror and common carp up to 2 1/2lb and won £15. Second was John with 27lb and he won £10. Even though it’s turned colder Heron Lake & Fir Tree are still fishing really well.

Got my first pole at the weekend and for a bit of fun joined in a small match on Sunday with four anglers on Heron Lake, and won!! I caught 20lb of mostly carp from 1/2lb to 3lb and one mirror that was 10lb and won £15, (Beginners luck!!!) second was John who caught 16lb and won £5.

Marazion angling club are starting a winter league and are using Amalwhidden Farm as one of the venues. There will be 3 matches on Heron lake, 11th November, 30th December and 10th March. Sirco Occasional Danglers Society held a private match today on Heron Lake. Ten fished and there were some good weights all round. Joint winners were Rob and Kev with 29lb each and won a share of the spoils. 3rd was Roger with 21lb 8oz and 4th was Ian with 17lb 8oz. S.O.D.S (Sirco Occasinal Danglers Society) fished a private match on Fir Tree Pond. After a previous night of heavy rain fishing was difficult and it all came down to the luck of the peg draw. Kevin Waldon was the winner with 21lb 4oz from peg number 17 and won £25. Second was Rob who won £20 with 13lb 8oz from peg number 16 and Jake Flint came third from peg number 5 and won £10. Sirco Occasional Danglers Society held their third match at Amalwhidden Farm on Heron Lake. It was a sunny day but windy which made things a bit tricky. Fishing was steady in the morning but slowed up in the afternoon, which is not suprising considering we are still in January. The winner was Mike (Pictured) with 14lb 4oz who won £25, second was Jess with 10lb 14oz and won £20, third was Jake with 10.6oz and £10 and fourth was Kevin with 10lb and prize money of £5 (Don’t spend it all at once Kevin!) Amalwhidden Farm also donated a bottle of wine to the winner.
