Fir Tree Pond, Matches »
This Sunday we held our open on Fir Tree Pond, by popular request! The carp were not really settled and fishing was tricky for some and the weather really didn’t help as it was wet nearly all day. I drew peg 7 and didn’t think it would produce, but it did! I had a good day in the margin at 13m feeding 6mm pellets and fishing 8mm pellets.
- Neil Hodder (Pictured) Peg 7 52lb 8oz
- Jimmy Crossley Peg 11 23lb
Thanks to everyone who came.
Our next match will be on Sunday 8th May and we will be fishing on Heron Lake! 🙂
Fir Tree Pond, Heron Lake, Matches »
This Sunday’s match was an individual open and a blind pair’s match. It proved to be a great day with the added fun of the pair’s. We had 15 fishing in bright sunshine but the cold northerly wind made it tricky for some. We fished 2 sections on both lakes and paid the top 2 in each section as well as the top 2 overall pair’s, which saw a good spread of the pools money, here are the results:
Fir Tree Pond:
- Jon Wykes (Pictured) Peg 2 50lb 4oz
- Neil Hodder Peg 14 33lb
Heron Lake
- Tony Jose Peg 13 48lb 6oz
- Alex Bradley Peg 2 44lb 6oz
Pair’s Results:
- Jon Wykes & Chris Symons (Combined weight) 93lb 6oz
- Lee Dark (had a bye) (Combined weight) 68lb 4oz
Thanks to everyone who came it was a great day and hope to see you soon.
Our next match is a 2 day festival, the first day is at Kernow on Saturday 30th and back here at Amalwhidden on Sunday 1st May. If you can’t make our 2 day event our next open will be Sunday 8th May. 🙂
Fir Tree Pond, Matches »
Today’s match was held on Fir Tree Pond as Heron Lake was booked for a private club match. The weather was fine with good spells of sunshine, there was a chill in the northerly wind but this made little difference as there were some good weights. I put in one of the new pegs (peg 14) and although Tony Jose was sceptical it would produce he drew it and had a fish every put in. Tony was the run away winner but there was very little separating the next three, here are the results:
- Tony Jose (Pictured top) Peg 15 63lb 14oz
- Jimmy Crossley (Pictured bottom) Peg 11 35lb 10oz
- Neil Hodder Peg 3 34lb 8oz
- Aide Holland Peg 7 33lb 6oz
Tony fished and fed 6mm pellets to the island and picked up most of his catch on one line.
Well done Tony and thanks to everyone who came.
Our next open is a also a blind pairs match, if you would like to fish please book. Ring or text me 07842 089760

Today was a windy day with prolonged spells of rain, we had 5 brave the poor conditions and surprisingly it fished quiet well, here are the results:
- Neil Hodder Peg 15 50lb 4oz
- Mike O’Gorman (Pictured) Peg 17 41lb 14oz
I fished 6mm fishery pellet at 5 metres for most of my fish and had a few on the pellet feeder from the island. Despite the weather I enjoyed the day.
Thanks to all who came.
Our Next open is Sunday 17th April and will be held on Fir Tree pond.
Heron Lake, Matches »
Today was a bit windy and also started off wet but soon cleared to be a bright and breezy spring day. We had 5 fishing and pegged Heron Lake so that everyone had a nice feeder chuck. The match ended up very close between Jimmy and I, here are the results:
- Neil Hodder (Pictured Top) Peg 9 50lb 4oz
- Jimmy Crossley (Pictured Bottom) Peg 15 50lb 2oz
I started off fishing a short pole line with no joy and was sat watching Jimmy catching. I switched to the pellet feeder and caught a few carp and skimmers to the far bank. I fed the margin to my left with 6mm pellets whilst fishing the feeder and had a look after 30 mins. I caught a good stamp of carp from this margin through out the day and switched between the two methods.
Thanks to everyone who came.
Our next match is 10th April 2016
