Today’s open was fished on Heron lake and with the strong wind forecast for the afternoon we pegged everyone on 1 bank so they had the wind over their heads. Fish were topping all round the lake at the start so I was hoping it would fish well. Roger Baker started quickly having 3 decent fish on the bomb in 3 put ins…..I think his new style of casting that Paul Glanville taught him has paid off!😉 Nice to see Lee Dark on the bankside again, bit more practise needed mate!! I was pleased how it fished today, Here are the results:
1st Tony Jose peg 3 52lb
2nd Roger Rachel Baker peg 7 46lb 3oz
3rd Paul Glanville peg 5 31lb 3oz
Well done Tony on the win and thanks to everyone who came, I appreciate everyone’s support through out the year, match anglers and pleasure anglers alike and would like to wish everybody a happy and healthy 2018 and hope to see you soon.
Our next match is an open on Sunday 7th January all welcome.

Wednesday 27th December we had our Christmas match. We had a decent turnout despite the really strong wind but coupled with a day and half of cold rain, bites were hard to come by. I pegged both lakes with 5 on Fir Tree and 6 on Heron, it definately came down to pulling a peg out of the bag that had some shelter from the wind. I was lucky enough to draw peg 7 on Heron which isn’t usually a go to peg but it had some shelter. Paul Glanville drew 8 on Fir Tree and done well from the left hand margin. Only 10oz separated 2nd to 5th on Heron, so it was close. We paid top 2 on Fir Tree, top 3 on Heron and everyone went home with a prize, to include a bottle of JD, cases of beer, bottles of wine and boxes of chocolates. here are the results:
Heron lake
1st Neil Hodder peg 7 20lb 8oz
2nd John Maundrill peg 5 11lb 10oz
3rd Martin Newstead peg 9 11lb 7oz
Fir Tree
1st Paul Glanville peg 8 24lb 3oz
2nd Craig Parkes peg 15 9lb 14oz
Well done Paul on winning your lake and thanks to everyone who came and braved the weather, I hope you enjoyed the day.
We have an open this Sunday (New years eve) and there is space if you would like to fish.

This Sunday gone was winter league round 5. With a few missing this weekend we pegged everyone on Heron lake and fished 2 sections with 1 overall winner and 2 section winners. The inform island pegs were not the place to draw as the best catches came from the other end of the lake in the deeper water, hardly surprising I guess when you consider the amount of cold wind and rain we’ve had over the last fortnight, here are the results:
1st Alex Bradley peg 15 31lb 5oz
2nd Ricky Dennis peg 9 28lb 10oz
3rd Adrian Holland peg 11 23lb 7oz
Hard fishing but a close match. Well done Alex and thanks to everyone who came.
We still have space on our Christmas match Wednesday 27th December. As well as the usual pools there will also be prizes, entry is £27 all in to include peg, pools, golden peg and prizes. Please book if you would like to fish.

Yesterday was winter league round 4 and it never ceases to amaze me how Ricky Dennis and Alex Bradley always manage to draw spot on! Alex pulled peg 3 on Heron from the bag and Ricky had 15 on Fir Tree stuck to his hand, which coincidentally was what he wanted! Fish fed well on Heron with corn being the favoured bait whilst on Fir Tree it was hard with fish responding to dobbing tactics, here are the results:
Fir Tree Section
1st Ricky Dennis peg 15 24lb
2nd Roger Rachel Baker peg 7 17lb 6oz
3rd Neil Hodder peg 9 13lb 14oz
Heron Lake Section
1st Alex Bradley peg 3 54lb 14oz
2nd Paul Glanville peg 17 34lb 15oz
3rd Tony Jose peg 19 26lb 13oz
Well done Ricky and Alex on winning your sections and thanks to everyone who came. Next Sunday there will be an open on Heron lake. If you would like to fish please book.

Today’s open was fished on heron lake. We were going to run a pairs match, but with 7 fishing this was a bit difficult so we ran an individual’s. Fishing was hard but close, with the pegs around the island producing the best weights, here are the results:
1st Adrian Holland peg 5 31lb 2oz
2nd Mike Bennets peg 15 28lb 12oz
3rd Tony Jose peg 18 25lb 2oz
Well done Aide on the win today and thanks to everyone who came.
Next Sunday is a winter league match.

Today was round 3 of our winter league, with 10 fishing we had 2 sections on both lakes, so anglers were well spread. Conditions were near perfect and with plenty of fish moving in the shallow water I was hoping it would fish well. I was happy with drawing peg 3 on Heron lake but thought it could be anyone’s match and with Ricky Dennis on his new home, peg 5 it was always going to be close! Alex Bradley drew well with peg 9 on Fir Tree coming out of the bag, which I think is a peg that is returning to it’s old winter form, here are the results:
Fir Tree Section
1st Alex Bradley peg 9 35lb 12oz
2nd Jon Wykes peg 7 17lb
3rd Mike Bennets peg 3 12lb
Heron lake Section
1st Neil Hodder peg 3 69lb 13oz
2nd Ricky Dennis peg 5 64lb 5oz
3rd Roger Rachel Baker peg 15 49lb 9oz
Well done everyone and thanks for coming. Next Sunday there will be an open, lake to be confirmed.

Sunday’s open was fished on a very windy heron lake today. 8 fished so we paid an overall winner and 2 sections. Golden peg was drawn by Christopher Symons, again!! But sadly for Chris it rolls over to the next open. Ricky Dennis has drawn sock on for a change and sat on inform peg 5 for the day, not sure what it is about this peg at the moment but the fish just want to be there and Ricky took full advantage of being able to present a bait on a pole line, which everyone else struggled to do, here are the results:
1st Ricky Dennis peg 5 82lb 13oz
Section winners
John Maundrill peg 11 14lb 14oz
Chris Symons peg 17 27lb
Well done Ricky, some top drawing and fishing! Thanks to everyone who came.
Next Sunday is a winter league match.

The Saturday boys had a match today on Heron lake. Only five of them braved the weather, which as it turns out wasn’t to bad, bit windy but the rain held off for most of the day. Pegs 2 to 9 were used so they all the wind over their backs. Barry Gillam had a good day on peg 3, he did go over in 1 net but I let the lads decide his fete….I think they were feeling generous as his weight stood. Here are the results:
1st Barry Gillam peg 3 76lb 10oz
2nd Nigel Hicks peg 5 38lb 5oz
3rd Marc Barden peg 8 29lb 2oz
Well done Barry on the win and thanks for using our venue.

Today’s open was fished on Heron lake. A cold northerly wind and a bit of hail thrown in for good measure meant it was like winter fishing for everyone except Marc Barden who was lucky enough to be sat on a few fish that were happy to be in his peg. Tony Jose drew the golden peg which now stands at £53, which roles over to next Sunday’s open, here are the results:
1st Marc Barden peg 5 63lb 4oz
2nd Tony Jose peg 20 22lb 7oz
3rd Ricky Dennis peg 19 20lb 9oz
Well done Marc on the win today and thanks to everyone who came.
We are running a mid week match this Wednesday on Fir Tree pond. £16 all in. If you would like to fish please book.

Today was round 2 today of our winter league. We had a few missing which was a shame but Ricky Dennis made his return in style. He drew spot on which is no surprise and fished a good match for a section win. It was a breezy day, not to cold but I think it defiantly made a difference to where the fish wanted to be, especially on Fir tree pond, here are the results:
Fir Tree Section
1st Neil Hodder peg 12 26lb 14oz
2nd Adrian Holland peg 15 23lb 9oz
Heron lake section
1st Ricky Dennis peg 9 60lb 2oz
2nd Roger Rachel Baker peg 5 46lb 4oz
Well done Ricky on winning your section and thanks to everyone who came.
Next Sunday there will be open and will confirm which lake later in the week.
