Match results for Sunday 13th April

10 anglers fished on Heron Lake and we had 2 sections. 1st in section one was Nigel Taylor on peg 2 with 48lb 12oz and won £30, 2nd was Josh Anderson on peg 3 with 45lb and won £20. 1st in section two was Roger Baker on peg 10 with 43lb 4oz who won £30 and 2nd was Neil Hodder on peg 18 with 34lb 4oz and won £20.

During the storms over Christmas we lost 3 trees. 2 fell on the fencing which have both been cleared and the fence repaired, but this one was a bit more of a challenge. It fell over the water and was nearly totally submersed! I managed to winch it out and cut it up as it came. Now there is just a big hole in the backside that needs to be filled! (Don’t worry all pegs are still accessible)

Today’s match produced the first 50lb+ net and with it the £50 bonus that has been up for grabs all summer. Lee Dark (Pictured below) drew peg 9 on Heron Lake. He fished 8mm pellets over 6mm fishery pellets and sweetcorn. The total weight was 60lb 2oz. Well done Lee.

I really should give Mark Charnell (AKA Sharky) a mention who had second with a 49lb 6oz net in the same match on peg 19. (Pictured below) He fished worm over 6mm fishery pellet. Close but no cigar!!

3rd was Brian White with 25lb. Well done to all who took part and thanks for your continued support.

Marazion angling club and Sirco Occasional Danglers Society held a club V club match on Heron Lake. Barry (Marazion) won with 30lb 4oz and won £40, John Wilson (Marazion) was second and had 28lb 9oz and won £30, third was Ian (S.O.D.S) with 23lb 3oz and won £25 and fourth was Gary (Marazion) with 22lb 9oz and won £15. Marazion was the winning club (No overall prize, just the kudos). Looks like you’ll have to arrange another match so S.O.D.S can regain some dignity!!

This beautiful 10lb 10oz Ghost cross Common Carp fell to a hard, hair rigged pellet fished over fishery pellet. This is the last of 4 original doubles that we’re put in Willow pond when we re-landscaped the fishery nearly three years ago. They are all back in Heron Lake now where they should be.

Todd Wright organised a match for his 65th birthday. 15 anglers fished and we paid 2 sections. 1st, section A Neil Hodder 17lb 12oz £60 (I have put £20 of my winnings in to this week’s golden peg pot) 2nd, section A Kev Waldon 14lb 2oz £35 and 3rd John Shirley 13lb 14oz £20. 1st, section B Jamie Corrigan 34lb 8oz £60, 2nd, section B Mike O’Gorman 23lb 4oz £35 and 3rd, Section B Todd Wright £20.

Everyone caught on the day and we had a barbeque on the bankside after. Thanks to Todd and Sue for arranging Todd’s birthday match here at Amalwhidden Farm. If you would like to organise a match for a special occasion please let me know.

Saturday 1st June (7 fished)

1st Mark Charnell (Sharky) 39lb 9oz £50, 2nd Jamie Corrigan 36lb £30 and 3rd Sam Bawden £18

Saturday 15th June (9 fished)

1st Jamie Corrigan 35lb 8oz £63 + £16 golden peg, 2nd Josh Anderson 29lb 8oz £38 and 3rd Neil Hodder 22lb 12oz £25.

Heron Lake will be closed on Sunday 23rd June for a private match. Fir Tree and Willow pond are open to day tickets as usual. If you would like to book a lake for a private match please contact us for details.

This isn’t the standard method of fishing and I don’t recommend it!! I hope no-one breaks any more expensive fishing poles!
