Is it really June? Fishing in the rain again!!!

Today’s match was fished on Fir Tree pond. I put in a couple of the shallow pegs today(14 & 15) which in hind sight wasn’t the best choice of pegs as most fish were caught in deeper water, but for those on a deep peg it fished well. Here are the results:

1st Tony Jose (pictured) peg 3 65lb 10oz
2nd Neil Hodder peg 11 49lb 12oz
3rd Mike O Gorman peg 7 48lb 8oz

Tony fished pellet on the pole and feeder. Well done mate and thanks to everyone who came.
Our next match on Sunday will be on Heron lake, everyone is welcome, let’s hope the sun will be shinning!

[29 May 2016 | Comments Off on Today’s Open Result and New Lake Record | ]

Had a great open today fishing in beautiful, warm sunshine. The Carp we’re spawning in Heron Lake so we fished on Fir Tree Pond. Alex Bradley (Pictured) drew peg 11, he had a good moan, but I knew he would do well and although the stamp of fish he caught was small, he set a new record for the lake (That’s both lakes he now holds the record for!) Here are the results:

1st Alex Bradley Peg 11 72lb 15oz
2nd Aide Holland Peg 15 64lb 6oz
3rd Neil Hodder Peg 4 58lb 4oz and biggest fish bonus with 4lb Mirror Carp

Match Winner Alex Bradley 29.05.16

Well done Alex. Thanks to everyone who came it was a really enjoyable day.

Our next match will be Sunday 5th June. Hope to see you there

This Sunday we held our open on Fir Tree Pond, by popular request! The carp were not really settled and fishing was tricky for some and the weather really didn’t help as it was wet nearly all day. I drew peg 7 and didn’t think it would produce, but it did! I had a good day in the margin at 13m feeding 6mm pellets and fishing 8mm pellets.

  1. Neil Hodder (Pictured) Peg 7 52lb 8oz
  2. Jimmy Crossley Peg 11 23lb

Thanks to everyone who came.

Our next match will be on Sunday 8th May and we will be fishing on Heron Lake! 🙂

This Sunday’s match was an individual open and a blind pair’s match. It proved to be a great day with the added fun of the pair’s. We had 15 fishing in bright sunshine but the cold northerly wind made it tricky for some. We fished 2 sections on both lakes and paid the top 2 in each section as well as the top 2 overall pair’s, which saw a good spread of the pools money, here are the results:

Fir Tree Pond:

  1. Jon Wykes (Pictured) Peg 2 50lb 4oz
  2. Neil Hodder Peg 14 33lb

Today’s match was held on Fir Tree Pond as Heron Lake was booked for a private club match. The weather was fine with good spells of sunshine, there was a chill in the northerly wind but this made little difference as there were some good weights. I put in one of the new pegs (peg 14) and although Tony Jose was sceptical it would produce he drew it and had a fish every put in. Tony was the run away winner but there was very little separating the next three, here are the results:

  1. Tony Jose (Pictured top) Peg 15 63lb 14oz
  2. Jimmy Crossley (Pictured bottom) Peg 11 35lb 10oz
  3. Neil Hodder Peg 3 34lb 8oz
  4. Aide Holland Peg 7 33lb 6oz

[18 Jan 2016 | Comments Off on Work on Fir Tree Pond | ]

Fir Tree pond has a shallow section along one side which over the last few years has been over grown with rushes. (Below) Fish have been holding up in this area making catching in other parts of the lake more difficult.

Fir Tree Pond before work 18th Jan 2016

We had a digger in to remove all the weeds, which has made a bit of a mess down the far end!! All pegs are still fishable and when banks have dried out I will be adding 2 more pegs on Fir Tree pond, this will give us a total of 15 pegs on this lake.

The next phase for Fir Tree pond is to have a new stocking of carp, not totally sure on which size we are having yet but will post on my blog page when we get them! 🙂
